I teach each class about the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design. They also learn about seven to ten artists over the course of the school year. For each artist we study, I have an artist study project for the classes to do. In May, during Teacher Appreciation Week we do "The Pollock Experience" where we create artwork for McClure teachers, staff and our community partners. These paintings are done in the style of Jackson Pollock. It is fun and messy, but it is the one project the students look forward to every year.
We offer a 4th through 6th grade Honor Choir that does concerts, caroling at Christmas, and other performances throughout the year. They meet after school for practices.
All grade levels also participate in a concert during the year. Veterans Day Assembly, Christmas musical, Christmas sing-along concert, Black History Program, and a Talent Show at the end of the year.
